CHI 2008 from Florence (III ) CHI 2008

Wednesday was a tough day session to complete complex and major sponsors set up their show at the Grand Hotel Florence, but I will tell the end of the post. :)

Session 1: " Engineering case studies "

This plenary session focused on the incorporation of the Usability methodologies known Agile Methodologies.

The following slides we see a practical example of this fusion :

short briefly the conclusions that the speaker gave us were:

• The iterative testing minimizes the impact of serious problems
  
• The cultural problem between developers and HCI experts, depends more on the people that the methods used
  
• people methodology helps to interpret the end-user needs

Session 2: "Search"

Undoubtedly

One hot topic of the congress and did not disappoint with a will of interesting papers.

1) "The adaptation of visual search strategy expect to gain information."

As we can see Slides in this profound study technology Eye tracking has not made big news.

• sparse information easier to read and search for information
  
• users than looking in the first 3 pages

2) "Pick Me! Link selection in expertise search result "

This paper made me laugh, and that explores a question I ask myself often.

why when I search on the Internet itself, I get the same information that other search engines? I do often:)

Summarizing the study, the most demanded in the search for people is:

• Profile: Personal data, studies, publications, etc.
  
• Contact details and links to social networks

to see if search engines get batteries and improve this type of research.

In the other sessions soon to tell, I have been checking if I missed something, but are quite paranoid.
