After 5 hours of rebellion with Blogger (I promise that I'll change!) And with the continued failure of the WIFI network, I posted summary Antonio Rodriguez has done on this second date:
Day 2:
Session 1 The day of the Accessibility, IBM Handson Vicki gives a historical overview of accessibility, des from the beginning to the future with new technologies like Web 2.0 with the paper "The Once and Future Star of Accessibility computing. "
Images of the timelines on the history of the disability
for Thought:
- had in 2000 600 million people above 60 years will have 1.2 billion in 2025 and 2 million in 2050
- Today, 2 / 3 of older people living in developed countries in 2025 would be 75%
Session 2:
In the second session of the day we decided to attend a "Special Interest Group" on GIS Education (taking advantage of David and I are fortunate to teach in the Master IPO Lleida), but it was exactly what we expect.
The change was worth it, because we were in a very interesting presentation on the results of the implementation of a mechanism to encourage participation in a network environment business through reputation points and levels: Results from Deploying a Participation Incentive Mechanism Within The Enterprise :
Image on incentive mechanism
Results:
- users know the existence of this mechanism and how to get the points (experimental group) showed a high degree of participation .
- In contrast, the share decreased by users who know (control group)
Lessons learned:
- High motivation of users for the points and the level of reputation
- Increased contributions makes others more visit and comment
- prevent future need not worthy forms to get score (eg with or duplicate posts simple comments to gain points, among others)
Session 3:
First sesión de la tarde nos llevó a conocer la adaptación de una aplicación farmacéutica para ser utilizada mediante pantallas táctiles, realizada por Christel Dehaes, Lore Nuyens, Human Interface Group, de Bélgica. El nombre de la conferencia era " Cutting Edge Usability Design and Smashing Graphics: The perfect Recipe for Fring up A Sophisticated Pharmaceutical Touch Screen Application ".
Cogiendo como punto de partida un mock-up realizado por los desarrolladores del cliente, la metodología consistió en 3 fases :
- Auditoría de la interfaz de usuario
- redesign and graphic design
- Usability Tests
NOTE: commented that each user test lasted 2 hours and performed 12 tasks. I can only imagine how tired the poor ended up users!
Screenshots of mock-up game:
New application after the redesign:
Although
in some solutions I have my doubts about the good results they may have, not to mention that it is a good example of applying the methodology to the redesign of interfaces.
Then there were 3 guys from Microsoft and we were surprised with the new Windows Live interface they are developing. The title of the exhibition was called " Wheels Around the world: Windows Live Mobile Interface Design ." Why wheels Around the World? You will understand easily with the demo video and the following graph:
video quality is not quite good but the only thing we could get.
The images attempt to explain the conversion of web content presented in columns, to a model based on "wheels" for the mobile.
The idea is simple and ambitious attempt to create an interface in accordance with these premises and objectives:
- Navigation through a thumb
- scroll Nothing
- Nothing menus
- Intuitive worldwide
- Compatible with different platforms (PC, mobile)
- Accessing your personal and web content from any location or device (PC, mobile)
- The model must operate and mapping the structure of modular customizable web page Comment
- Japan: 40% success
- U.S.: 74% success
- China: 76% success
Session 4
The first conference was on the study of web pages of questions and answers (Q & A) with the idea to understand where to find the best answers to difficult questions. Therefore, took as webs of reference for the study:
- Yahoo answers
- Live QnA Beta (Microsoft)
- Google answers (with its three models based on reward - $ 3, $ 10, $ 30) AllExperts
- Ask a Librarian (9 libraries separately)
Following
questions through different websites, the results obtained taking into account the different types of questions and the quality metrics reply prepared, are as follows:
Results:
- The quality of the responses increases when using reward mechanisms ($). In this case Google with a bounty of 10 or 30 USD gets the best quality results
- Yahoo Answers gets better results than the reference libraries and even Google answer when rewarded with $ 3.
The second presentation addressed the issue of sortings Card. What do you think is the minimum number of users to get some good data in a CardSorting? 10? ¿15? ¿20 ?.... because today I can say 0, if zero .
I have not gone mad, because 0 is the number of users needed to perform a card sorting tool with us today Christos Katsanos, University of Petras, Greece .
" Automated Tool CardSorting " is software that taking as input a list of concepts with a description, performs a semantic analysis (LSA, Latent Semantic Analysis) with which can perform grouping based on semantic relations descriptions. What this can work? Well, I raised many questions quickly, but have made a comparison between the same exercise done in the traditional way with 18 users versus made with your application and as you can see in the pictures are not far a result of another:
Results of the correlation matrix and the dendrogram of cluster analysis.
I leave a video of the show that taught us:
certainly expect an interesting software that perform many more tests for validation.
And this is all about the conferences we attend this second día.Hay some things we have seen and we will tell in future posts.
